This Monday is Memorial Day.  We discussed this day in class and watched the story, "The Wall" by Eve Bunting.  It was a very powerful reminder about the sacrifices so many people made for our country.  Please remember to say a special prayer for them and their families.

This week, the children will be taking the performance part of the New York State Science Test (Friday).  Please have your child come to school well rested and on time.  They will need at least two sharpened pencils.

This week we will read the selection "Mystery at Reed's Pond".  The target skills are drawing conclusions and making generalizations from the text.  This story is paired with the informational text "A Big Python Problem".  There will be comprehension and vocabulary quizzes on this week's selection on Friday.

This week the children will be reviewing pronouns, homophones, and using commas in sentences.  I will be administering a grammar quiz on these skills on Friday.

We have completed Chapter 9 and will begin reviewing the chapter.  There will be a "Open Book" test on the June 5th.

Extra Help classes in ELA will take place after school on Wednesday. The class dismisses promptly at 3:30 in the schoolyard.  Please make sure that someone is available to pick them up at that time.  Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Please remember that all weekly pizza orders must be handed in by Wednesday in order to receive the pizza lunch on Friday.  No late orders will be accepted.  This is also true for taco and bagel orders.

Our Tuesday mailing is going digital, and can be accessed under "Parents" on the homepage of the school website.

If anyone would like to take home a reader or Social Studies textbook overnight, just let me know.  Please note, however, that the books must be returned to school the next day, as they are used by the students in class.
