Mrs. LoCascio 2-4

Field Day

THE ST. THOMAS FAMILY FESTIVAL WAS A SUCCESS!

Fortunately, the weather turned around we all got to enjoy the festivities. It was nice to see so many of you there.

We will return to our regular arrival and dismissal procedures tomorrow, 6/4/18.

The long-anticipated FIELD DAY is this Friday, June 8th. The weather looks great and the votes have been tallied, we are officially Mrs. LoCascio’s BLUE BEASTS!

If you can come to help supervise and cheer on our team, that would be wonderful.  I’m sure your children would be thrilled to see you there!

Last chance to order Scholastic Books!
You can choose from any that are on the

Scholastic web site. The books are usually much cheaper than in the stores.

Now’s your chance to stock up on summer reading!

We officially have 15 more days of school and the excitement is building, but there is still so much more to learn! Please ensure to continue instilling good work habits at home. Check your children’s homework and planners to make sure everything is complete. It is important to have your child at school on time, with 4 SHARPENED pencils, so everyone is on track for a successful day.

Although Friday is Field Day, we will be moving forward in our reading.  We will be reading two informational texts about Ben Franklin.  The first, “Now & Ben,” tells us about all the incredible inventions that Ben Franklin designed and how they still help us today!  The second story “A Model Citizen” tells us more about Ben Franklin’s life.

The phonics skills are letter combinations of (oa), (ow) and(ee), and (ea). We’ll also be discussing how to Compare and Contrast in order to connect events in our reading.

In math, we are continuing to prepare for third grade.  Most of the children are doing well with the new concepts as they are introduced.  That’s a good sign that they understood the previous second grade concepts!  Yay!!

The following is our Specials’ Schedule:

Have a great week!
