St. Thomas the Apostle

Grades Taught:

This is my 22nd year of teaching at St. Thomas the Apostle School.
I taught 2nd grade for 19 years with the exception of
2000/01 when I taught computer to grades K-8. This is my third year in third grade.  Before teaching full time I was a substitute teacher for grades K-8 in two diocesan elementary schools. I was educated at Adelphi University and in
1989 received my Bachelors Degree and in 1999 received my Masters
Degree in Elementary Education. I also received my New York State
permanent certification for grades N-6 in 1999. I was very excited
to be nominated and receive membership in Who's Who of American
Teachers in 2007. I have been serving on the Faculty Social
Committee for 15 years, and I also served on the Middle States
Steering Committee (2005/06) to renew accreditation for St. Thomas.
I was one of the coordinators of the "Black History Show" for
6 years. I am also known as "Mrs. Fix It" here at St. Thomas the Apostle School.
Personally, I am an active fund raiser for the Good Shepherd Hospice. My family has held a golf outing in memory of my father to benefit the hospice for the last 24 years. My sisters and I started a charity called "Paddy's Angels" in 2008 in memory of my 22 year old nephew who died in a tragic accident. Our charity tries to bring a little Christmas joy to families who have lost a loved one or who are having a rough time around Christmas. I am married and have two children who are both married. I have 4 grandchildren.

God speaks in the silence of the heart. Listening is the beginning of prayer.
-Mother Teresa

Third grade is a very challenging year academically for the children. The children grow spiritually in 3rd grade.
