Memorial Day

The May Crowning was beautiful. The children did a wonderful job. We are all very proud of them. Thank you to everyone who helped make this day memorable.

Our trip to the Cradle of Aviation is this Wednesday, May 23rd.

We are scheduled to have our lunch at the Red Planet Lounge. Each child must bring their own bagged lunch.

Please put all lunches in paper bags/plastic bags that can be thrown away after eating.  The lunches will be brought to us at our scheduled lunch time.  There is no place to store any leftover items.

This week, we will be reading “Yeh-Shen,” a Chinese story about a young girl living with a mean stepmother. The second story is “Cinderella.”  The children will enjoy comparing and contrasting the two stories.

The phonics skill this week is the (ow) and (ou) sound.  We’ll also be reviewing possessive nouns.

We have successfully completed the math skills for Second Grade!  We will be preparing for third grade for the remainder of the year.  The lessons will be in the Practice Book and I will supplement them with math sheets.  These lessons build on the concepts learned throughout the year and take them “one step beyond.”  There will also be an introduction to Multiplication which is a major skill in third grade.

The following is our Specials’ Schedule:

Monday – Gym

Tuesday – Library

Wednesday – Computer

Thursday – Art and Music

Friday – Spanish

You can go online to Scholastic Reading Club and order any level from any of the different book flyers.  You can charge the order online or if you choose, you can send in the order and I will place it. Our CLASS CODE is: RFC6N.

Have a great week!
