Mrs. Miller 2-7

Our trip to the Cradle of Aviation is this Wednesday, May 23rd.

We will be eating our lunch there.

All lunches must be in disposable containers.  The children cannot bring their regular lunch “boxes” or thermoses.

Please put all lunches in paper bags/plastic bags that can be thrown away after eating.  The lunches will be brought to us at our scheduled lunch time.  There is no place to store any leftover bags, etc.
**IF YOU ORDERED A BAGEL LUNCH, THEY WILL NOT ARRIVE BEFORE WE LEAVE FOR THE TRIP.
ORDERS WILL BE CREDITED FOR THE BAGEL DAY IN JUNE.**

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

I hope you all enjoyed the May Crowning.  Our children were perfect.  Thank you to all the parents who arranged and helped to make a beautiful breakfast.

I would like to also thank MaryAnn Pellegrino for the time, effort, and love she gives to make our First Communions and the May Crowning memorable experiences for our children.

As you know, Field Day was postponed because of the weather (I think we made the right call!)
It has been rescheduled for Friday, June 8th.

By the way…..
we voted, and we are
THE WHITE DRAGONS!

If you can come to help supervise and cheer on our team, that would be wonderful.  I’m sure your children would be thrilled to see you there!

This week, we will be reading two fairy tales.  The first, “Yeh-Shen,” is a Chinese tale about a young girl living with a mean stepmother. The second story, is the ever-popular, “Cinderella.”  The children will enjoy comparing and contrasting the two stories.

The phonics skill is the (ow) and (ou) sound.  We’ll also be reviewing possessive nouns.

We have successfully completed the math skills for Second Grade!  We will be preparing for third grade for the remainder of the year.  The lessons will be in the Practice Book and I will supplement them with math sheets.  These lessons build on the concepts learned throughout the year and take them “one step beyond.”  There will also be an introduction to Multiplication which is a major skill in third grade.

We’re in the home stretch now and the children will be preparing for their next step….3rd Grade!  Please continue to check homework and reinforce continued good work habits even though they would rather be outside, enjoying the good weather.

The Family Festival is coming up.  Please consider volunteering you time for a few hours.

With your help and participation, the Family Festival becomes a successful endeavor!

Have a great week!
