Mrs. L. Miller 4-13

       May Crowning

The fourth grade had a special ceremony on Friday.  We celebrated the month of Mary by crowning her statue located near our classrooms.  Thank you, Mrs. Mulvihill, for organizing and leading us in this beautiful tribute to Mary.

I have sent home the Scholastic Book Club forms for May.  All orders should be returned or placed by this Friday, May 25th.  Information and a link are in the resource file "Useful Links".  Our class code is FLX3W.

This week we will read the selection "Save Timber Woods" which is a play about working for a cause.  The target skills are understanding characters and making inferences and predictions from the text.  This story is paired with the persuasive essay "Following Muir". There will be a comprehension and vocabulary quiz on this week's selection on Friday.

This week we will be reviewing the identification and use of correct pronouns.  I will be administering a grammar quiz on Friday.

We will continue Chapter 9 which focuses on inventions and immigration in New York.

Extra Help classes in ELA will take place after school on Wednesday. The class dismisses promptly at 3:30 in the schoolyard.  Please make sure that someone is available to pick them up at that time.  Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Please remember that all weekly pizza orders must be handed in by Wednesday in order to receive the pizza lunch on Friday.  No late orders will be accepted.  This is also true for taco and bagel orders.

Our Tuesday mailing is going digital, and can be accessed under "Parents" on the homepage of the school website.

If anyone would like to take home a reader or Social Studies textbook overnight, just let me know.  Please note, however, that the books must be returned to school the next day, as they are used by the students in class.
