Once a week, the students will have "DEAR" period.  This means "Drop Everything And Read."  The students are asked to always have a novel with them to read for these periods.  They should complete a book log on each book they read.  The directions are on their google classroom.

The students will be required to complete book reports throughout the year.  Each book report will have a theme and project guidelines.  The book must be approved by me before they utilize it for their book report.

The students will read 2 novels this year.  They will be assessed on their knowledge of the novel.  They will receive questions based on the chapters of the books.  

The students will be learning the parts of a sentence, the parts of speech, how to sentence diagram and how to write many different types of essays. 

The students will be journaling at least 2 times a week on various topics. 

The students will be completing 5 Vocabulary Units a semester. 
Students have 1 week to complete the unit.  They will write sentences for the words then, be tested on them the following Friday.  We work with the words for 2 weeks.
