April 12th-16th
School is in session 5 days this week.
**On Wednesday our Eighth Grade student will receive the sacrament of Confirmation. This is a half day for STA/dismissal is 11:45. There is no after school program on Wednesday.
Please do not send lunch on Wednesday and thank you for arranging for early dismissal transportation.
*Our lunch program will be available each day for lunch items, beverages and snacks. The hot lunch selections are a big hit with the students.

Welcome back after our long Easter Recess! I hope everyone enjoyed this holiday and the time with your family.
So here we are in the month of April. With First Communion on the way we will be learning about the Mass and also practicing the prayers and responses we will be using on First Communion Day.
Journeys~
This week we will be working on Lesson 22.
Our theme is how friends help each other.
Our two selections are~
Gloria- Who Could Be My Best Friend, a sample of realistic fiction, and How to Make a Kite, a sample of informational text.
Comprehension~ understanding characters and recognizing figurative language
Vocabulary~ identifying idioms
Grammar~ using adjectives
Spelling/ Phonics~ homophones (words that sound the same but have different spellings and meanings)

Next, we will be moving on to Chapter 7 Time and Money.
Get out your alarm clocks, wrist watches and coin banks. Start to gear up for a switch to a different Math experience.
Science~ We will review Chapter 2~
Earth’s Resources and skip over to Chapter 4~ Plants.

Mrs. Pellegrino has shared lessons to work on for First Eucharist. The STA School First Eucharist is on May 1st. We will be practicing songs for our sacrament. If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to me.
*One concern about the Communion dress code for boys was shared-

Our school day begins at 8:00am. Dismissal is 2:45pm. Children are asked to bring a book to read in the morning while we wait to begin our day.
Everyone needs a snack/ water bottle and a home lunch.
Please check your child's backpack for his/her home folder/homework planner/ Math manipulative bag and workbooks used for homework.
After School Program children - Please bring a snack.
